hYFN AlexZander gives some of his best work to date w/ release “ALMIGHTY EASTSIDE”
Hyfn AlexZander has been growing not only as an artist, but as a inspirational figure for quite some time now, and his sound continues to become more detailed, polished, and distinguished with each release. This new project feels like another strong example of that progression. There’s a sense of intentionality throughout the work that doesn’t feel rushed, it feels developed. You can hear the growth in the presentation, the confidence in the execution, and the willingness to continue refining what already works. That evolution has been taking shape for a while now, and this project feels like another marker of that journey. Whether through his work as one half of the Duffy Boyz or through the collaborations and relationships he’s continued building with artists across the city, and the industry, AlexZander has continued proving why his voice deserves attention. This project reflects that. It feels rooted in experience while still pushing forward creatively. If this is any indication of where the trajectory is headed, there’s plenty more to pay attention to moving forward.
Some projects sound like they were made to introduce an artist. Some sound like they were made to remind people who somebody is. “ALMIGHTY EASTSIDE” feels like a project that is trying to claim space. There’s a very intentional energy throughout this body of work that leans into presence. Not necessarily trying to overwhelm the listener, but making sure every moment feels like it belongs to the same world. The project moves with a sense of confidence that doesn’t feel rushed, and that becomes one of it’s strongest qualities. What works here is the commitment to mood. The album feels connected by attitude and perspective more than by trying to chase one singular sound. There’s enough structure to make the project feel complete, but enough looseness to make it feel lived in. The pacing allows moments to breathe instead of forcing every track to be bigger than the last. One thing that makes this project interesting is that it doesn’t feel afraid of simplicity. There are moments where the music trusts itself enough to let repetition become emphasis instead of excess. That confidence gives the project replay value because the records become easier to return to. The skits are so powerful on this album while the records take you back to another world being built by AlexZander, with features from Shoeonmyhead & Lewie lxrdd this album is definitely one of Hyfn’s most important releases..
One thing we’d love to continue seeing is even more moments of unpredictability. Records that pull back, sharper moments of reflection, or records that challenge the energy already established could push future releases into an even stronger lane. There are also moments where mixing could be only a tad bit better & certain effects could be added to give the records an even more polished listen. But overall, “ALMIGHTY EASTSIDE” feels focused. It feels like a project that understands that identity is just as important as execution. Rather than trying to be everything at once, it chooses a direction and commits to it. This is a album that feels rooted in presence, perspective, and carrying your own world with confidence..
