Old Joy makes great end of the summer tunes w/ release “Cinco De Mayo”

Old Joy is one of those acts that might not be the first place most listeners go when searching for new music, but that’s exactly part of what makes their sound so interesting. There’s something infectious, unconventional, and genuinely refreshing about what they’re building, and we’re definitely paying attention to the trajectory. Their record “Cinco de Mayo” is a strong example of that. The production gives the record it’s own identity, the replay value is there, and more importantly, Old Joy continues to prove that their sound doesn’t necessarily need to fit comfortably inside anybody else’s box to work..

Now, rumor on the street is that a larger project might be coming soon, and we’re hoping that’s the case. Our biggest challenge for Old Joy is simple, give us the full world. We want to hear what this sound becomes across a conceptual EP or album, something that allows them to stretch these ideas out, experiment even further, and show us exactly where this trajectory is headed. Until then, “Cinco de Mayo” is staying in rotation..

Take a listen and let us know what you think..
