Frankie Parker gives incredible soul vibes w/ release “Breathe”

Frankie Parker is one of those talents who can set the tone simply by stepping into the room. Her presence within Chicago’s soul and R&B ecosystem has been felt for quite some time. She’s contributed her voice and talents alongside some incredible artists, opened stages for names that speak to the level of her artistry, and continued building a résumé that deserves recognition. But “Breathe” reminds us that Frankie Parker’s individual work speaks loudly enough on it’s own. This is one for the books. The production throughout the project is magnificent, but what we really appreciate is that every record is allowed to carry it’s own personality. There’s a cohesiveness to the project without everything sounding like an extension of the song before it. Each record has it’s own emotional temperature, it’s own conversation and it’s own reason for existing..

Much of “Breathe” explores love, relationships, and simply interacting with life as it comes at you. But underneath all of that is soul. And not soul as simply a genre. There’s a certain weight, warmth, vulnerability, church, blues, history and lived experience that can exist inside Chicago music regardless of what decade the production might remind you of. Frankie Parker taps into pieces of that throughout this project while still making something that belongs specifically to her. That’s what makes “Breathe” work. It doesn’t feel like Frankie is trying to prove that she can sing. That part has already been established. Instead, the project gives her room to tell stories, explore emotion, and remind listeners what happens when an artist with an already developed voice gets enough space to build a world around it..

Our only request is simple, We want more Frankie Parker. She has already done incredible work alongside artists throughout the industry, but her individual catalog deserves continued expansion. More singles. More EPs. More complete bodies of work. More opportunities for listeners to understand Frankie Parker beyond the collaborations, stages, and credits. Because “Breathe” makes something very clear, Frankie Parker doesn’t simply have a voice worth hearing. She has a perspective worth documenting. And within a Chicago R&B and soul ecosystem filled with generations of stories still being written, that perspective deserves the space to continue growing..
