Ju-Blick gives Chicago his story w/ release “Get Rich Or Die Slidin”
We said this last year about the artist right after he was featured on the LeagueBoii project “Look up, Vol.1” & released his recent project “The Precursor”. Since then the artist has been shaking the very foundation of the music scene with not just his music, but how he shows up for community. With many excited to see Blick’s success and hear more of his music there have been many eyes on him lately. He has been very strategic with who he collaborates with because of this reason. He wants the world to know how much love he has for the Chatham community and his plans to uplift it more. Because of this Blick has been showing up on platforms like the legendary Purple Box, curated by APJ Films, Illanoize Radio, to not only show his lyrical ability, but to elevate the quality of artistry coming from Chicago..
From building with staples of the city like GQ Tha Teacha & Fred Hampton Jr. to telling his story to the legendary newspaper Chicago Reader. Blick has been showing the city and the world that he’s in a lane so unique many won’t catch on until his next project that he’s a pioneer to the cities music scene while also still being very much in his prime. So him having the year he has had so far for 2025 is really incredible to see. This new project is example of that..
Ju-Blick is a dynamic voice rising from the South Side of Chicago, blending raw lyricism, soulful storytelling, and sharp social awareness into a sound that captures both the urgency and beauty of his community. With deep roots in Chatham, Ju-Blick’s music is a reflection of his environment—equal parts grit, growth, and grace. Drawing inspiration from classic Chicago hip-hop while pushing forward with a unique cadence and modern edge, Ju-Blick’s work speaks to the lived experience of young Black artists navigating art, trauma, and survival. His storytelling is personal, often touching on themes of family, faith, mental health, and transformation, grounded in both poetry and purpose.
Whether he’s on stage, in the booth, or building with fellow artists in intimate studio spaces, Ju-Blick is committed to using his voice to uplift the South Side’s legacy while carving out his own visionary path. He is not just an artist, but a storyteller and vanguard for a new generation of Chicago artistry..
A raw, unflinching soundtrack for the South Side hustle, Ju-Blick’s Get Rich or Die Slidin doesn’t just knock, it documents. Ju-Blick’s latest project, Get Rich or Die Slidin, is more than just a clever flip on 50 Cent’s classic “Get Rich or Die Trying”, it’s a visceral statement of intent. This is survival music, protest music, introspective music, and most importantly, Chicago music. From the opening track" “Tony Baines Speaks”, the listener is dropped into a world that feels both personal and universal. A city of corner stores, cold winters, constant tension, and complicated love as the voice comes from legendary producer & historian Tony Baines.
The project opens with “The Realest,” a slow-burn intro that sets the tone with gritty poetics and a sense of calculated calm. Over a soul-tinged loop, Ju-Blick lays out his purpose: he’s not here for clout, he’s here for legacy. You can hear the hunger in every breath..
Tracks like “No More Opps” and “Let Me Ride” ft CantBuyDeem & D’so Nyce hit hard, powered by haunting production and street sermon bars. Ju-Blick doesn’t glorify violence—he analyzes it, questions it, and occasionally mourns it. His voice carries the weight of someone who’s seen too much but refuses to lose hope. It’s this emotional duality that makes the album compelling..
On “Call Ya Bluff,” arguably the standout, Ju-Blick slows things down to reflect. It’s not just a song—it’s a memory, wrapped in melancholy keys and vulnerable storytelling. Here, he peels back the bravado and shows us the young man behind the mic, reflective, weary, but never broken..
What makes Get Rich or Die Slidin special is its intentionality. Every track feels like a snapshot—of the block, of a moment, of a decision that could change everything. The features are purposeful. When others do appear (notably Tyre Hakim and a surprise verse from Femdot), they complement, not distract. With contributions from Asha Omega, Evan Dior, Panamera P, Eli Hendrixx, Rell Cash, Zachariyah TBM, Colie Young, Hittz, Ray ILLa, SolarFive, Roostar Green, Joel Q, Ali Da Villain, & Kendall P Blick makes sure the full picture of Chicago’s trenches are talked about in full detail..
While some listeners might expect more commercial hooks or polished radio-ready production, that’s not what this album is for. It’s for the people who know what Ju-Blick is talking about without needing an explanation. In a city bursting with talent, Get Rich or Die Slidin cements Ju-Blick as a storyteller with clarity, courage, and a voice that refuses to be drowned out. It’s one of the most authentic street albums out of Chicago in recent memory—unfiltered, soulful, and real to the bone..
Our favorite records to play in the office are “Wake Up”, “My God” ft Asha Omega, Colie Young, & Evan Dior, “It’s on Sight” ft Panamera P, “God Squad” ft Joel Q, femdot, & Tyre Hakim, “Trust 2” ft Roostar Green, & “Chitown 06” ft Ali Da Villain & Kendall P”.
